BEAUTIFUL PERFORMANCE

Thank you to the cast and many hands who make this show an incredible experience. The music is incredibly performed and sung by very gifted singers and performers. The characters will touch you on a very spiritual level and leave you in a special place for deeper appreciation for the arts. Great event and place for a date. Simply THE BEST! Love love loved it!!!

A BEAUTIFUL AND TIMELESS LOVE STORY!

Amazing talent on the stage as well as in the orchestra! This production evokes emotions that cover the entire spectrum of social and personal life. It is, to me, an opera of jazz and blues that is as relevant in 2014 as it was at its debut in 1935! Don't miss this !

MOST UNFORTUNATE

We were really looking forward to seeing Porgy & Bess, tonight, Tuesday, 01/24. Imagine our disappointment when Summertime, the opening song that 90% of us KNOW, was incomprehensible. As it turned out, almost ALL of the female voices were SO high that you could not understand the words. Not to mention the fact that the orchestra played over everyone’s voice but Porgy. We felt bad for the performers who undoubtedly worked hard preparing for the show. Someone, a Director, an Arranger, SOMEONE took this troupe down the wrong path. 😥

CLEVELAND OPERA’S PORGY AND BESS

I was seated center front and even sitting that near, the performers voices did not project out enough for me to be able to understand the lyrics. If I were not intimately familiar with the story and the lyrics I would’ve been completely lost. The orchestra was far far too large for the inexperienced voices of the performers. When I walked out at the second intermission a huge number in the audience were leaving with me in a big parade. Really a disappointment!
