KC SYYMPHONY AND PINK MARTINI

The best concert ever and we’ve seen Pink Martini in Portland and KC several times.

AWESOME, UPBEAT, INTERNATIONAL ORCHESTRA!

We saw the Pink Martini Orchestra last night at the Galveston Opera House. They rocked the house with songs in many different languages, even in Japanese. Paris Forbes, singer song writer, wrote awesome , upbeat, international songs in many languages. Paris’ diction allowed me to hear every word and follow the bard. Each member of the orchestra was talented beyond words. We will look to see the Pink Martini Orchestra again.

MUSICAL TREAT!

Pink Martini and guests shared their extraordinary talent in voice and instrumental performance all evening. The piano duo set very impressive and China’s newest song at the piano for finale lovely. Thank you PM!

LOVED THEM AT RADY SHELL LAST NIGHT!

Had no idea I would love this show so much, they are the perfect band performers for this venue. We were in way back lawn seats and felt engaged every moment. All the guests were amazing, the Symphony backed them up and PM was a power house of talent and creativity in the showmanship.

PINK MARTINI AT BOSTON SYMPHONY HALL

WOW WOW WOW!! What a fantastic show. The entire symphony hall was packed, tight. Somehow, with all those hundreds of people, Pink Martini made it feel like we were all sitting in a small club together just having some fun. It was a masterful and fun and raucous and sweet kind of show. Can’t count how many languages we heard. That band is just astounding. And there was China, in a billowy, flowy, gloriously red gown just belting out songs, beautiful voice. She’s really an entertainer. And what really was icing on the cake was having Ari Shapiro (from NPR) on stage, looking about 7 feet tall, and singing full throated songs he helped write (?) in three different languages with Pink Martini. I had no idea he was at times part of the band. And decorations on the icing on the cake? The two guest vocalists who were other worldly. Every musical group in our little corner of France (Occitanie) plays Sympatique every time they perform. We all know the words.

LEFT US FEELING FILLED WITH HOPE

Phenomenal musicians, gorgeous vocals and beautiful messages in each of the songs . Hearing people’s reason for requesting songs brought me to tears. My kids 13 & 16 loved every minute of it too. Bravo

SIMPLY AMAZING!!!

After seeing Pink Martini at a private wedding in downtown Portland Oregon I was hooked and had been following them ever since. Both my wife and I were thrilled to have had the opportunity to see them at least nights show. 3/22/23 at the Dr Philips Performing arts center for the first time. We were not disappointed. They performed all of the favorites and had the place rocking towards the end. Thomas Lauderdale spoke a little too fast for most of us to understand. He's just a fast talker. China was on point and the musicians were fantastic in every way. Can't wait to see them again. Brilliant Band.

ENDLESSLY GREAT

This was our third Pink Martini concert in 20 years. China’s voice doesn’t quite have the vibrancy it once did, but she more than makes up for it with her self confidence and mature richness. This group delivers a priceless entertainment experience every time. They connect with the audience and generate huge spontaneous participation. Their music never gets old and they bring a new mix of music to each show. Just terrific and still going strong. Easy to see why they are so loved.

PINK MARTINI AT EDGEFIELD

We have seen Pink Martini several times in concert, which is why when we saw they were performing at Edgefield in Portland, we jumped at the chance to have a fun, lively evening. What we got was not even close. The opening band was great, got the crowd up and dancing, anticipating the fun main event. However, when Pink Martini took the stage they seemed to take the crowd down, hosting several guests (which is normal), but each guest seemed to play a slow ballad with no fun upbeat music until the very, very end of the show when they closed with Eugene, however, by then the sleepy crowd sitting in the dark was either asleep or on their way home. It was a very disappointing evening. We will think twice before purchasing tickets again. Storm Large was great, but we hardly got to see her, and China Forbes was hardly on stage. Sad. Thomas Lauderdale seemed very unsettled. We would like to have seen more of the band themselves, not just guests. We paid to see Pink Martini!

PINK MARTINI AT WOLF TRAP

Have enjoyed Pink Martini for years, and only now have had an opportunity to see them live, with great expectations. I thought that there would be dancing in the aisles all night. PM is incredibly talented, and together with the National Symphony Orchestra, they played a tight show. However I'm thinking that they are less concerned with satisfying their audience with tunes I'm sure they've played adnausium over their long history. China Forbes was incredible, and guest Ari Shappiro from NPR was very talented. But after the first two tunes, it was apparent that it would not be the concert I thought. PM seemed less concerned about getting the audience moving, than exhibiting their musical prowess. In the end, it was a nice concert, but I walked away feeling that I didn't get to see and listen to the PM I'd hoped for. Bummer.

EXPONENTIAL KITSCH

The singers were talented, the orchestra was very good, but the content and presentation were, er, over the top kitschy. Cornball doesn’t even come close to describing the content and presentation: Interminable 4 hands at the piano were tasteless, bordering on homoerotic fervor. ! Was actually hoping for the show to end. Total low brow pop crap! Yeech.

PINK MARTINI

Not up to their usual high standard . The evening started with a performance that was fine except that it was way too loud we had to leave and sit near the toilets where the sound was muffled Pink martini was frankly boring! not up to their usual standard a disappointing evening

LOVE THEIR MUSIC BUT DISAPPOINTED WITH THE SHOW

We have enjoyed the music of Pink Martini for quite sometime and when we saw they would be performing LIVE at the Shubert in New Haven we jumped at the opportunity to get tickets. But sadly we were disappointed with their performance and would most likely not go see them again. Wish they sang more and talked less. It was difficult to understand Thomas' chatter and we didn't appreciate the constant pitch of their political views. They should have played more of their "classic" songs, the ones that made them famous. Not a tribute to Helen Reddy "I Am Woman" and Dolly Parton's "9 to 5"! Really??! Come'on people... not at these prices. China Forbes seemed bored and they gave too much attention and song time to their guest "Ari Sapiro" from NPR. On a positive note, the musicians in the band were phenomenal.

PINK MARTINI AT KESWICK GLENSIDE PA

Saw Pink Martini 2 years here and loved the show!!! we were excited to see them again. BUT.... last night???? disappointed in the show last night. more talking than performing. didn't like the audience members dancing behind the band, very distracting. band seemed bored with their show and almost said as much. the Helen Reddy bit "I Am Woman" was bad, didn't understand Thomas or what he was talking about most of the time. also didn't like them pitching their goods that were available for purchase in the lobby. took 2 friends telling how great the show was going to be . all not impressed and probably won't see them again. sad to say

DISTRACTING AND TIRED

I don’t go to a music performance of this caliber to watch audience members covering the stage doing as they pleased. Also, this was 90%the same set as they did the last time to anchorage, geez, learn some new material, besides singing happy birthday twice to the same person. I’ll skip them next time.

REALLY DISAPPOINTED

I have happily seen Pink Martini perform on six previous occasions but the 7th and last was a terrible disappointment at Red Rocks. Filled with “guests” singers and cover songs? Why??? They are so talented and have terrific songs we all wanted to hear and didn’t.

MEDIOCRE SHOW AND VERY POOR VENUE

We went to the show thinking we will hear mostly Pink Martini but even though there were a few songs they performed (and they were great), they added a lot of other performers and in our opinion diluted the music they make. For us the venue made it also very difficult to enjoy the show. The seats are very tight and even though the show was not sold full, it was still a lot of people. The spinning stage is an interesting idea if it had not looked as if it is a torture for the performers as the fans constantly blew to their faces. The most difficult part of all is the parking lot, we knew we had to leave earlier and therefore tried to make a guess in the parking lot to park in a place that will not be blocked. The parking lot do not have lines or people helping and most cars are blocked from leaving early. Needless to say we were also blocked and could not leave. Since we left the show we were also not allowed to get back in. We will not go again to any melody tent event!

LOW ENERGY……

Painfully obvious Lauderdale and ensemble were mailing it in…. Low energy show, with group going through the motions. This group could not wait for this short show to be over. Perhaps Lauderdale was saving his energy for his robust finale of selling his “merch” to wrap things up, so they didn’t have to “bring it all back to Portland”. Very disappointing.

DISAPPOINTING

We were very excited to see Pink Martini again! It was a very disappointing performance. They performed three songs and the rest of the time was filled with other unknown "performers". This was not what we expected and certainly not what we paid for. What were you thinking Pink Martini?

DISAPPOINTED

I raved about Pink Martini to my girlfriends. It was a big disappointment last Sunday, Dec 15th at the SF Jazz Center. We were there to hear her classic songs and not Christmas songs, they should have advertised if it was a Holiday Edition...She hardly sang, she had other guests to perform. We were there to listen her upbeat songs to dance and not her boring "I'm a woman and 9 to 5 songs. 2 years ago we saw her at the Mountain Winery and she was fantastic...not sure if I would want to see her again.

SO LONG, PINK MARTINI

The concert on Pier 17, NY, was very disappointing. My friends and I are total PM fans. We have all their music and have gone to their concerts whenever they are in NY.The tix are generally expensive, but worth it. However, in this concert, they introduced a lack luster band - I think it was "the pilgrims who played for 30 mins. Then 4 solos each for Edna and Jimmy. Then China sings 9-5- a Dolly Parton song. We feel cheated. We paid pink martini prices and got very little pink martini. Why would China sing a dolly parton song when she has an amazing repertoire of PM songs? It's insulting. We left beffore the end and won't go back. I hope they read this and bring back the PM we know and love.
