The Swell Season

The Swell Season at Peace Concert Hall

Why see The Swell Season?

Swell Summer

Folk icons Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova are back as the Swell Season for a run of North American tour dates this summer, following their reunion in 2022 that saw the duo play together for the first time in a decade. Having reconvened the following year for more shows and to write and release their first new material in years, this new run continues the new era for the duo, but expect a thoroughly nostalgic and enchanting experience as these consummate musicians once again capture lighting in a bottle together.

The Swell Season came to prominence following their performance as fictionalised versions of themselves in the movie Once, which starred Hansard and Irglova as two musicians who find a connection on the streets of Dublin. The film and their central performances became a surprise hit, winning an Academy Award in 2007 for Best Original Song for theme 'Falling Slowly'. In 2012, a stage adaptation by Enda Walsh opened on Broadway, taking home eight Tony Awards. It's a testament to Hansard and Irglova that the show, movie and their own discography as a musical pairing have all safely become modern classics.

GREAT Show!

WOW! What a night to remember. This duo put on a fab concert at "The Snitz" last night. We're so glad that we got tickets & could make the trip down from Olympia- well worth it. If you have seen their movie "Once" then you can relate to the songs & then to have a live experience at a concert is unforgettable. ... Read more
